Hi everyone, some exciting news for you: Dekata Project and Doshiwa Records are proud to announce our brand new COMIC COMPETITION, to coincide with the release of “At Least We Can Dance” on September 14th. As many of you know, we have been working with all round artist and comic book legend Harvey James on all of our artwork to date, from the website, to the CD and digital sleeves. Him being an active blogger and all, he would post up his Dekata Project stuff on the web, and before we knew it, people started posting their own art inspired by his work and the little characters that appear in them. Have a look at this link and you’ll see what I mean, the standard of the responses was incredible, he entitled it “Black Lion Week” and it really took off – keep scrolling to see all the artwork:

So, we figured, if people will do this for fun, imagine what it would be like if we held a competition, to be judged by Harvey James, with a money prize of a whole £100 for the bestest of the lot! All of the info you need to take part can be found on his blog , link below, if you’re interested or know anyone who might be, please direct your efforts and questions here:

Description
The mix starts off with the hot new remix of my very own “At Least We Can Dance”, remixed my newcomer Ike Synton: the extended mix of this tune and remixes are all out on August 31st, see www.doshiwa.com for more. The journey continues in this 80s tech / squelchy vein, getting darker as we go via tracks from Clap Rules and Keith, before the summer really takes hold and we have our first latin sizzler with Joe T Vannelli’s ‘Sognado’, a well thought out mixture of old and new skool bass lines and percussive beats. This track is closely followed up by more south american influenced tracks: the hazy trip that is ‘Bossa’, club anthem ‘Flauta Magica’ and beautiful builder ‘Bittersweat’. Next off on a soulful house tangent with a summer remix of Yannah Valdevit, from the ears of Domu and Atjazz, followed by the more traditional house piano and vocal riffs of ‘Brave New World’, guaranteed to get the sunshine girls dancing their asses off.

Next up, my current favourite broken beat / nujazz track, the hypnotic ‘Find A Way’ from Masirah. More four to the floor required, with two soulful electro-funk tracks in ‘Handle It’ and ‘Loving You’, the latter really establishing John Oudo’s remix credentials with a lovely uk-funky-esque rhythmic mix of his own track here. Acid jazz vibes come via Mishal Moore’s ‘Oh Lord – Kenny Dope Remix’, then the electro stylings of ‘Sleeper’ takes us through to Phil Ashers’s “The Weight”, from his latest essential Restless Soul EP, ‘ONE’. I couldn’t really do this mix without some version of the summer hit ‘Warrior Dance’, the Danny Marquez & DJ Fudge Mix took it for me, amazing energy and the drops you’d expect from such a big tune. The tasteful minimal / tech groove of ‘I Want You’ forms a nice bridge to my favourite electro house tune of the summer, the incredible ‘Set Me Free’ from Phonat, the tune that just keeps giving. I finish off with the more chilled offerings of top label Tru Thoughts: nujazz vibe from Domu’s remix of Nicola Kramer’s ‘Best In Me’, and my favourite track from the new Quantic And His Combo Barbaro album, something that must be owned people, Quantic’s biggest achievement to date in my opinion, amazing live band and grooves here, love the string arranging in particular. Worth noting: I’ve warped and sped this track up to fit my bpm requirements, sits well at this tempo too i think. That’s it y’all: catch me playing these tunes out right now.

Exciting news: At least We Can Dance (Nu:Tone Remix) featured as the second track in on Fabio and Grooverider’s BBC Radio 1 show on Sunday (Aug 9th). Slight typo, they name checked us as Delta Project, but national UK airplay is airplay none the less! Thanks to Nu:Tone for the incredible drum and bass remix, plus Yvette Riby-Williams for singing my vocals so beautifully of course.

Check out the show on radio 1 here, up for a couple more days:
